Meet the Artist

Mathilde is a multi-faceted artist known for her innovative printmaking, photography, and publishing approach. At age 11, she discovered the magic of the unexpected, creating an accidental double film exposure, and igniting her lifelong pursuit of wonder.

Mathilde's artistic practice is deeply rooted in her profound love for paper and printing. She effortlessly transitions between engraving, etching, silkscreening, monotype, painting, photography, collage, and contemporary drawing, crafting artist books that intricately blend visual art with narrative. Mathilde's fascination with book-making lies in its ability to transform 2D works on paper into the third dimension. Her work often features folded forms, or what she refers to as the 'silence of blank paper,' as she strives to evoke dreams and inner stories that explore the superposition of memories. Hours of unstructured exploration, devoid of any expectations, form an integral part of each project. She draws inspiration from outdoor walks and travel, with landscape, border, and limit at the core of her artistic research.

Mathilde aims to provide a positive space for introspection, self-discovery, and total artistic immersion, guiding you like a sailor through the seas of your creative universe. With a penchant for evocative storytelling and a keen eye for detail, she will create an expressive space to help you overcome "blank page fear."

Explore Paris

Mathilde's studio is in Ivry-sur-Seine, a hidden gem, only a 15-minute walk from Paris's 13th district. This former industrial suburb is now home to art studios in old Yoplait yogurt and Pierrot candy factories, vibrant street art, local markets, and charming cafes, providing a glimpse into the natural Parisian way of life.

Near the studio, you can explore the Napoleonic military building-turned-music conservatory and Manufacture des Oeillets, a newly built theater, and a poetic, post-industrial stroll along the Seine River. Just a few minutes walk from the studio is Parc des Cormailles, the perfect spot for a spontaneous late afternoon picnic or aperitivo. Or, you can hop on the train to explore Paris's beautiful sites like the Jardin des Plantes botanical galleries, Notre Dame de Paris, Musée d'Orsay, Musée du Louvre, or Bois de Vincennes, one of Paris's largest and most beautiful parks. Whether you're a history buff, a food lover, or an art enthusiast, Ivry-sur-Seine has something for everyone.

Additional Details

Paris is beautiful year-round, but if you are looking for warmer weather, visit during the summer months (June–July). Spring and autumn offer mild weather, beautiful colors, and fewer crowds. August is the busiest and most expensive month, while winter (November–February) is cold and rainy, with limited sunlight.

This session can be extended for up to 25 days. Please add a note in your booking request.

Children 12 years and older accompanied by a guardian are welcome to participate. The studio windows open wide, so children should be careful and attentive. The studio, located on the second floor, lacks an elevator, making it challenging for wheelchair users or those with reduced mobility.

Mathilde speaks French and English.
