It is a technique that I found out about last year in my further education, and as i am traveling in Japan right now, it is a lifetime opportunity to get to know it by an artist of Katazome.

I was able to experience a good insight into the technique of Katazome. He showed me many stencil papers from his father, and i could see and feel, how much time it needs for making the stencil Paper. For some Katazome works, i was allowed to use a template from his father, a template from the Danzen ji temple, which I worked in the coming days with a "Hake" brush! While i worked on it, we also walked to the real temple and could compare it. This was a beautiful experience.
